Versions, installing and updates

The console versions are for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official platform list names no version for PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2. Both console versions came out on September 29, 2026, the same day as the PC version.

  • Bought in the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store, the game appears in your game library by itself; on Xbox it is under My games & apps.
  • On consoles, updates download and install by themselves at the next chance. The build number in the lower right corner of the main menu tells you which one you have; compare it with the console release notes.
  • The PlayStation version is on build 40397 and the Xbox version on build 40384. The PC has Version 40420, the first stability update, on Steam since October 8, 2026; Urban Games says PlayStation and Xbox get their own updates later. Every change is on the updates page.

From the publisher

Prices on console and PC

The publisher's suggested prices in US dollars; the same figures apply in euros.

EditionPS5 and XboxPC
Standard Edition$59.99$49.99
Deluxe Edition$74.99$64.99

On October 10, 2026, the PlayStation Store showed $59.99 and $74.99 and the Xbox store $59.99 and $74.99. Both sell the Deluxe Upgrade on its own, for $19.99, to players who already own the game. The Collector's Edition box is $119.99. What each edition contains, and the discount for Transport Fever 2 owners on the same platform, is in the Deluxe Edition guide.

What the PlayStation and Xbox stores list

The PlayStation Store lists the game for PS5 as one player, with offline play and Remote Play; streaming it from the cloud to a PS5 or a PlayStation Portal needs a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. The Xbox store lists the game as single player and optimized for Xbox Series X|S, with keyboard and mouse support on the console, Xbox achievements and Xbox cloud saves. It is rated ESRB Everyone and comes in 13 languages. Xbox Play Anywhere is not among its features.

Controller settings

The controller settings let you invert rotation, tilt and zoom, swap the sticks for the camera and for menus, raise the deadzone if a stick drifts, and set the sensitivity separately for the normal and the free camera. A controller works on PC as well: the game can be played with a mouse alone, with mouse and keyboard, or with a controller.

Mods on PS5 and Xbox

Mods work on PlayStation and Xbox too: the in-game mod browser, run by mod.io, offers the same mods on every platform. PC saves uploaded to the Mod Hub cannot be downloaded on PlayStation or Xbox yet; Urban Games plans to add this after launch. The mods and achievements guide explains how mods are switched on and why they can turn achievements off.

Map sizes on console

On PlayStation and Xbox the game offers only the Small, Medium, and Large maps, because of memory limits. The map sizes guide gives the size of each one.

Known console problems

  • Xbox may say it has no room left for saved games well before the 2 GB limit. There is no workaround yet.
  • With a controller, opening an empty construction menu can lock the game (the plane menu before 1920, some industries in sandbox mode). The workaround: save, then load that save again.

Crashes and other errors on every platform are covered in the troubleshooting guide.

What the official pages do not say

  • Whether the game comes to Game Pass: the Xbox store sells it and showed no Game Pass offer on October 10, 2026.
  • Whether there is a boxed disc version. The official pages describe digital editions and the Collector's Edition box, whose game code arrives by email.
  • Whether saves will move between PlayStation and Xbox, or when PC saves shared on the Mod Hub will load on consoles.
  • When the consoles get their first update after launch: Urban Games only says later.
